Was sagt ihr dazu?
Hier mein Angebotstext:
VINTAGE HAND MADE ORIGINAL AFRO-JAMAICAN 16” RAG DOLL “CLAUDEINE”
Up for sale is this Vintage Hand Made Original Afro – Jamaican 16” Rag Doll. She goes by the name “Claudeine”. She was made in the 1930s by the grandmother of a dear Jamaican friend of mine. Grandmother Santiana and her husband Ambrose immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1920s and settled in the South.
One thing his family always had and still has is pride. Pride in their heritage, pride in their customs and pride in their family. One thing my friend’s family never has was money. In other words: They were poor.
Grandma Santiana was very good with her hands and worked as a seamstress from her house. She and her husband could not afford buying toys for the children so they made them by hand themselves.
“Claudeine” measures approx. 16” in length. She is wearing typical Caribbean colorful dress as one would see it even today when you go to this part of the world. Some of the stitching of the doll are by hand, the rest was put together with the help of Grandmother Santiana’s old pedal-operated Singer sewing machine. To show her heritage you will see in hand writing “Jamaica” on Claudeine’s sash.
Claudeine was well cared for by the children but shows signs of usage; i.e. some small spots like on her pink striped to. This is only normal being an approx. 80 year old doll which has been enjoyed by a number of little girls.
Now Claudine is looking for a new home to be appreciated. Will it be your home?
